The Ministry of Health (MOH) confirmed 24,080 new COVID-19 cases in Singapore on Tuesday (1 March), a week after hitting a record-high of 26,032 new infections.
It is the second-highest number of such infections ever recorded in a day in the city state, up from 13,554 on Monday, bringing the country’s total case count to 748,504.
Of them, 23,891, or 99 per cent, are local 21,025 were detected via antigen rapid tests (ART), while 2,866 were detected via polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests. A total of 2,749 local infections are aged 11 and below, up from 1,715 the previous day.
The remaining 189 are imported, of whom 105 were detected via ART and 84 via PCR tests.
A total of 11 COVID-19 related deaths were also reported on Tuesday, bringing the death toll here to 1,030.
The weekly infection growth rate or ratio of community cases for the past week over the week before was 1.02, down from 1.09 the day before. A figure of over one means that the number of new weekly cases is on the rise.
A total of 17,205 cases were discharged, while 1,726 remain warded, up from 1,649 on Monday.
Of those still hospitalised, 242 require oxygen supplementation, while 53 are in the intensive care unit (ICU).
As of Monday, 91 per cent of the total population have completed the full vaccination regimen, while 68 per cent have received their booster shots.
